The Return To Online Schools?

The End Of Mandates May Be In The Future
February 16, 2022Recently, we discussed what the Omicron variant is going to do to schools once again. Now that we are a few weeks into it after returning from break, it seems to be a mix of what schools are doing. Many small schools have the ability to keep small class sizes and therefore maintain safety of all people present. But, some classes at bigger universities cannot do this safely.
Some schools are using a hybrid format. Some classes simply need to be done in person, such as labs for science classes. You can argue that students get a lot more out of in person school than online. Online is a lot harder for students to learn, there's more distractions present, and there is less of a classroom atmosphere that some students would argue helps them focus.
It also drastically varies on the state that the school is located in, and what is standard there. Many PNW schools, for example, are using at least the hybrid models, while the small schools have begun giving it a go in person.
I don't think this will be the end of this conversation before the school year wraps up, and it is certainly something to watch.
