During the 2020 season, the NFL would delay games to an extra added week (week 18), when teams had a COVID out break and was prohibited by the NFL to play that weeks game. Many teams have high vaccination rates, and some teams do not.
As reported last week, there were some questions if the Olympics would resume this year as normal after last years delay due to COVID-19. The CEO of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan has not counted out a last minute cancellation of the Olympics due to the surge in cases in Japan
The Delta variant has brought us another wave of COVID to the world. The scary part about the Delta variant is that it’s much more contagious, and symptoms are more severe. Fully vaccinated individuals are still able to contract the Delta variant,
The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo has certainly seen some backlash, and understandably so. There are already over 70 confirmed cases within the athletes, and Japan has seen the most COVID cases per day in the last couple weeks than they have since January of 2021.
The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to start on July 23, but Japan is currently seeing a surge in new cases, and it isn’t impossible for the plug to be pulled on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, once again.
With the Olympics right around the corner and the Delta variant on the rise, we shouldn’t expect the Olympics to be the normal Summer Olympics that we always see. The Olympic Games are just a few days away, and we have already seen COVID have an impact on the Olympics.
