Are the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics Worth It To The Greater Good?
July 21, 2021COVID Is Slowly Tearing Apart The Olympics
July 23, 2021The Delta variant has brought us another wave of COVID to the world. The scary part about the Delta variant is that it’s much more contagious, and symptoms are more severe. Fully vaccinated individuals are still able to contract the Delta variant, but are significantly less likely to have severe symptoms or end up in the hospital. Vaccinated people are likely to feel like they have a cold, but are can still pass it on to others. Will this lead to another mask mandate?
Fox News states, “The Biden administration is reportedly weighing whether to formally urge vaccinated Americans to once again mask up as the country experiences an increase in the number of COVID-19 delta variant cases. ” The CDC and the White House will have extensive conversations about this, and in the near future, we may have another mask mandate once again in place. Considering the amount of people that didn’t like the mask mandate during the first wave, if it is in place again, expect a larger crowd to protest against this. There are people who do their part, got vaccinated, and limited their social interactions for a year. If vaccinated people are forced to wear a mask again, it’s quite possible there is a lot of unhappy people. Fox explains, “The talks come as COVID-19 cases have nearly tripled in the U.S. in recent weeks, putting yet another strain on hospitals, and exhausting doctors. ”
It will be interesting to see what happens, but in a way, it’s potentially scary. Joe Biden has been on the hot seat with a lot of people and there may be an uprising against him if there’s another mandate. People want to live freely and be comfortable, and as we know, masks are just an inconvenience. The government has to walk a fine line of keeping the country safe, but also keeping the people happy. More than likely, people are going to be really upset with this know and we may see a lot more rebellion than we have seen in the past.
The Delta variant is responsible for about 83% of cases in the US, and that number is growing. It will be interesting to see how the next few weeks unfold.
