COVID Is Slowly Tearing Apart The Olympics

2021-07-23T21:30:05+00:00

As reported last week, there were some questions if the Olympics would resume this year as normal after last years delay due to COVID-19. The CEO of the 2020 Summer Olympics in Japan has not counted out a last minute cancellation of the Olympics due to the surge in cases in Japan, their low vaccination rate, and some of the top athletes have been pulled from the games due to health and safety protocols surrounding COVID-19. Japan has seen the highest amount of cases per day in about the last week, since January.  Japan is also only about 20% vaccinated, and [...]

Will There Be Another Federal Mask Mandate?

2021-07-22T20:31:23+00:00

The Delta variant has brought us another wave of COVID to the world. The scary part about the Delta variant is that it's much more contagious, and symptoms are more severe. Fully vaccinated individuals are still able to contract the Delta variant, but are significantly less likely to have severe symptoms or end up in the hospital. Vaccinated people are likely to feel like they have a cold, but are can still pass it on to others. Will this lead to another mask mandate?   Fox News states, "The Biden administration is reportedly weighing whether to formally urge vaccinated Americans to once again [...]

Are the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics Worth It To The Greater Good?

2021-07-22T19:14:02+00:00

The 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo has certainly seen some backlash, and understandably so. There are already over 70 confirmed cases within the athletes, and Japan has seen the most COVID cases per day in the last couple weeks than they have since January of 2021. COVID cases are on the rise again in Japan, and there seems to be a correlation with the Olympics. The CEO of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics stated early this week that it's not impossible that the Olympics are cancelled, especially since the cases are surging again. In a way, this is putting the people of [...]

Will COVID Shutdown The Olympics?

2021-07-21T18:58:56+00:00

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to start on July 23, but Japan is currently seeing a surge in new cases, and it isn't impossible for the plug to be pulled on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, once again. CNN states, "Tokyo 2020 CEO Toshiro Muto isn't ruling out a last minute cancellation of the Olympic Games amid rising Covid-19 cases." Certainly, this would be devastating to the athletes that have already been forced to postpone their once in a lifetime experience; however, the government has to have a point where the greater good becomes more important than a few week event, [...]

Olympic Athletes and COVID

2021-07-21T18:54:09+00:00

With the Olympics right around the corner and the Delta variant on the rise, we shouldn't expect the Olympics to be the normal Summer Olympics that we always see. The Olympic Games are just a few days away, and we have already seen COVID have an impact on the Olympics. Because of COVID, we won't be able to see some of the top athletes compete at this years games because of health and safety protocols.   The USA team, specifically, has dealt with their fair share of COVID cases right before the Olympics, preventing athletes to compete in the less than [...]

The Impact COVID-19 May Have On The Summer Olympics

2021-07-21T18:54:02+00:00

The 2020 (2021) Summer Olympics have already been delayed a year since COVID had started to shut the world down in the months prior to its start date. We have taken large steps in the past few months in the battle against COVID, but the Delta strain is the latest worry. It has caused a spike in cases, and has brought the case numbers in Japan to a 6 month high, one week before the Olympics. What does this mean for athletes and fans?   The Olympics are supposed to start on July 23, and the Olympics are a fear inducing [...]

COVID-19 Update: Delta Variant, A Surge in Cases, and Mask Mandate Back In Order

2021-07-16T17:34:09+00:00

The Delta variant of COVID-19 has caused another spike in cases, and it's starting to cause a surge in cases. The vaccine is not 100% immune to the Alpha strain, the Delta variant is an even lower percentage. This means that people with the vaccine can still contract the virus. However, with the vaccine, the likely hood of your case being severe and hospitalizing you is fairly low. Delta is starting to take over, is it going to cause us to wear masks again? Or what about another possible shut down?   As of July 15, Los Angeles County in California [...]
